Story :
Subhash Chandra Gandhi (Upendra) is a multi-millionaire based in London but he is very Indian at heart and loves everything about motherland. His life takes a turn when he comes across the rather homely looking Indira (Nayantara) and in no time, he marries her. However, Indira shows her true side and the reason for her pretending like that is to take revenge on Gandhi. Meanwhile, Gandhi visits India and is in a state of shock with the state of things here. Why Indira wants revenge on Gandhi? How does Gandhi react after seeing the real condition of his motherland? All this forms the rest of the story.
Presentation :
The director has come up with an excellent storyline and the presentation was good, the narrative was stimulating. The dialogues were powerful, the script was written with twists and the screenplay was gripping. Background score was nice and songs were canned very well. The real credit goes to the cinematography department for its visual appeal. Art department was rich and the costumes were royal. Editing was good. Upendra comes across in his trademark style and gives the required punch dialogues. Nayantara looks sensuous and she carries her role with élan. Tulip Joshi was cute and gives visual feast through one song. Ali did his bit as required. Sudarshan and GV are alright. Sadhu Kokila brought few smiles. Jeeva was neat, Nagendra Shah was natural, the others did their bit as required and added value to the film.
Analysis :
The film comes across as an effort to show what is happening in our country in a black and white fashion. While that effort is appreciable, the film would have made a lot of impact if it was presented in a smooth and sophisticated way. However, it still carries the appeal and feel for the audience to get the message. While the first half was breezing enough, the second half slows down a bit before picking up once again. Overall, the film will connect with the masses for the Upendra factor and his unusual styles. At the box office, this will fetch benefits to the makers.
Verdict : Class thought Mass treat!
